Hello, all,
After being an observer on lactnet for years, I could lurk no more after watching this video. If I was a new mom, this might tell me that I can't trust my body, that I have to have a pump and bottles available just in case nursing at the breast doesn't work. I nursed my 5 kiddoes, #5 still nursing, and I have used a Medela pump in style since baby #1 for pumping while at work. For 9 1/2 years it has worked without missing a beat. As a maternal/child educator and LLL leader, I have recommended this pump for years.
It saddens me to be put in the position (because of their code violations and mixed messages to mom about how necessary a pump and feeding bottles are to breastfeeding mothers) that I can no longer, in good confidence, recommend their products to new moms. This pump besides the avent manual pump is the only one I have personal experience with. What are my options now?
That's my rant...
