Are the nurses in a hurry to bathe the baby?  I think this is one thing that can 
interfere with the natural thermoregulation in this sensitive time period.  It 
is understandable that if the nurses are required to glove when touching the 
baby before the first bath, they will be eager to "get it out of the way".  Of 
course, is this really necessary and even if it is, which should take 
precedence, nurse convenience or baby's natural transition?  One thing that went 
right after my granddaughter's birth was that they held the bath per mom's birth 
plan.  She was actually bathed the first time the day after she went home and at 
18 months seems no worse off for it. (tic)
