NIH article said 1/4 oz for each lb of baby weight. So for 4 lb 9 oz that
makes 1 1/2 oz per day. But if baby is exclusively breastfed maybe she
needs a little help with expressed milk by supplementer, cup or syringe,
something that wouldn't tire her. Hopefully Dr Wight will see your email and
give us her NICU opinion :-)

Thanks Pat this is really helpful. My math might be wrong but I worked out
1 1/8/ oz. /day for a 4 1/2 pound baby? Anyway, having the "math" to work
out with each individual baby really helps. And yes: It would be good to
also hear from someone who really knows these little ones yes on a daily
basis. Is what we know, or currently use, based on artificially fed babies?
Does exclusive ( with vitamins and Iron) breastfeeding make a difference?
Peace,
Judy
