I have had an interesting past week with just this topic. I have had a few moms with preemies in the NICU. Milk supply dwindling. Pumping as suggested, being compliant- yet milk supply tanking! Began them on manual expression instead. Low and behold, milk volumes rising! Back on the pump- supply tanking again! I do believe that some women respond to the pump, but many others have a negative effect from the pump. Good old fashioned manually expressing the breast can save the milk supply. I'd be interested in reading this article, as well. I'll be searching Baby Friendly UK right after I post this.
