Just watched the movie "The King's Speech" last night. Obviously there can be a difference between a true "tongue tie" and being tongue tied (slowed speech due to stuttering or stammering). If you watch the movie, Sir Winston Churchill does make an interesting comment: "I was tongue-tied" but apparently it was corrected by "an operation". A little research indicates that Mr. Churchill quite possibly had a "lisp". If you put all that together, I am wondering if he had a "true tongue-tie" and it was clipped at some point. I had an infant come in with a tongue-tie and referred mom to an ENT. Mom had also indicated that her 10 year-old had a speech impediment and was now being teased - which mom felt was due to a tongue tie. Unfortunately, the 10 year old did not want to have it clipped.
