My understanding is that there is a high correlation between open foramen
ovale and stroke risk in adulthood. This condition is much more common in
American adults than you would think.
Also that crying in arm of a trusted adult is less like to delay foramen
closure than crying alone.
Will try to dig up the citations for that.
I have been wondering for years about our rates of stroke and typical
American hands-off CIO parenting.
