You are certainly on a roll with tricky cases.
In my opinion, this mother needs a 2nd and maybe 3rd opinion. Is the
GI doc or the OB doc advising the c-section birth? The reasoning
certainly doesn't make sense. Why 38 wks????
Depending on the gestation of the fetus, anesthesia might be low risk,
or perhaps conscious sedation.  If she is needing to rule out celiac
disease, which my daughter was worked up for, she should not eliminate
the gluten foods, and should have a biopsy done via endoscopy.
In any case, it seems to me that she is being steered down some roads
that will just make her life harder. I hope she has time to seek other
opinions and options.
