Just a thought- did she have antibiotics in labor or postpartum? Could be skin breakdown d/t thrush- and as the milk leaks the sugars are "feeding" the yeast.

Subject: here's an oddity
Dear Lactnet Friends:
My dear midwife (friend, colleague, and catcher of my last baby) posed me a
situation that I've not heard of before and hope that there is an answer out
in Lactworld.
Best to quote directly: "The problem with this lady is she is not
breastfeeding and has not put the baby to breast at all & doesn't intend to,
but her nipples got sore and started peeling & cracking as soon as her milk
started leaking from her nipples anyway. It's almost as if she is allergic
to her own milk! "
Anybody have any ideas?
warmly,
