Hi Ellen,
Yes, nipple and skin have been cultured: nothing special!
Mom is really without symptoms in between bouts, no infection, no abscess,
no lumps, nothing.
We really feel this is a weird situation.
She takes Belladonna and still has the problem returning time and again.
I got a few private responses (thanks!): armpit clogging doesn't seem to be
the case.
Kinesiologist: we didn't try that yet, but it also doesn't tell me anything
about the cause of the problem.
I can image you want a certain person to do the treatment, but shouldn't we
first find out about the cause...?
That is how mom feels as well: we can evade the symptoms by drying up the
affected breast, but that still doesn't solve the riddle as far as the cause
is concerned.
This whole situation is a mystery to me...
Bye,
Marianne Vanderveen IBCLC, Netherlands

Subject: Re: [LACTNET] Severely recurrent mastitis
I think that 14-15 bouts of mastitis in 18 weeks must only be one bout of
mastitis or an infection that has not resolved rather than many separate
incidences. Perhaps some pathogen requiring a specific treatment? Has this
been cultured in some way?
