Hi all,
My manager and I are gathering information on IBCLC coverage in other
U.S. hospitals.
Specifically, our questions are:
1. How many deliveries do you have per year?
2. What is your average daily census in your postpartum, Level I
(normal newborn), Level II, and Level III nurseries (or whatever type of
nurseries you have)?
3. What are your allotted LC FTEs?
4. Are your LC FTEs based on your birth rate or your breastfeeding
rate?
5. What was your hospital's breastfeeding rate for the previous
year?
3. Do your IBCLCs see only inpatient postpartum mother/baby
couplets, or do you see moms/babies elsewhere (such as General Peds,
Peds ICU, adult med/surg/ICU, outpatients)?
6. Has your hospital earned Baby Friendly designation?
7. How many of your patients are non-English-speaking?
Any information would be appreciated! If you wish, you may
respond off-list: my email is [log in to unmask]
Thanks,
Suellen Williams, RN, MSN, IBCLC, Indianapolis
