Hello All,
I need some urgent help! Our hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee is "thinking" about changing our policy for breastfed infants. Last week we had a baby with a TE fistula who was breastfed. Administration is under the impression that ALL babies need to have "sips of sterile water with an artificial nipple" to protect the hospital from liability.
I know how I (and all of you feel about this)...but, I am looking for some really quick resources to back up my argument.
I also know I should search the archives before asking...but my daughter had a baby 8 weeks ago and is still bleeding and may need a D&C today. Administration has been known to change a policy on very short notice.
Thank you so much for your help!
Marie Ivey, BSN, RN, CLC (and hoping to be an IBCLC after this summer!)
