Hi Leslie
I work in a small maternity unit. We don't have a specific policy - but do
red flag these babies. Each baby is so different. With plenty of
skin-to-skin (12 hours first day and try for more next day) and expressing
colostrum, I find that many of them do really well. They are sent for early
follow-up (day or two after discharge) to an excellent baby clinic. We
don't routinely set up a pumping regime - each case is followed closely by
the LC while in hospital - usually about 3 days.
