Lisa, thanks for the article - very important.
I am interested in opinions/evidence about when a Late Preterm Newborn ( let's say 35-36 weeker) "must" be feed immediately after birth,( meaning formula) if he doesn't want to breastfeed and we can't get colostrums out of the mother.- this is a common problem/question in our hospital (no milk banks in Israel).
A protocol for late preterm infants is being written in my hospital and though I am happy with mucht of what we have decided, I am disturbed by what happens immediately after birth - that is, the baby is usually allowed two hours of undisturbed skin to skin breastfeeding time with mother, but if the baby does not BF within two hours, a few cc of formula is required.
I am interested in your opinions, and if anyone has a policy about Late Preterm Newborns I would very much appreciate being in touch with you. [log in to unmask]
Holliday Greetings and Happy New Year

One of the pedi's I work with just pointed me to this study released 12/20 in the journal Pediatrics. I thought I would pass on the link. Happy holidays to all who are celebrating!
