Hello and yes, I tell mothers that they can express a little breastmilk (even a bit into a teaspoon will do) and use a new, clean ear-dropper to drip a couple of drops into each nostril. I always get such positive feed-back afterwards regarding the outcome as well as baby's comfort level: almost no crying when breastmilk is used as opposed to drops of any other kind.

Warm regards,

Yulanda Ridge, IBCLC in SA

Subject: use of breast milk

  Hello

Does any one on Lactnet, encourage mothers to use their breast milk to treat their babies when they are snuffly, instead of normal saline?
