I have asked Medela for samples of the Calma to test to no avail yet. It's marketed internationally, so at this time they aren't willing to send any for evaluation. The promotional materials are misleading:"... sometimes it is not possible to breastfeed naturally" suggests that one can breastfeed "unnaturally" with their product. Weird. It appears to be an inner-chamber nipple by the photo. The other inner-chamber nipple we studied had significant flow problems similar to previous orthodontic nipple study results. In the photo, the nipple length appears quite long, and I wonder if it would cause many babies to gag before their lips were able to accept a portion of the base. Having not held it in my hands, I can't evaluate, but upon the photos it looks like small babies might feed with a closed mouth posture (not like breastfeeding). If I am able to acquire three for testing, I'll post results.
