Has anyone heard of witholding breastfeeding for a certain amount of time
when giving iron drops to a primarily bf baby (ie ebf with a few solids)
with low iron? I would love to see any references that would support (or
not) no breastfeeding 2 hours before and after giving the drops.
I'm assuming lactoferrin and/or calcium binding is the issue here, but I
don't know enough about how these components function wrt timing of feeds
and iron absorption.
I did see that Enfamil suggests putting the drops in formula if a baby
won't take the drops alone!
Thanks!
