Add to this interesting discussion a private practice ENT who when sent a client who isn't sure says "well if you don't do this right now the child will have speech issues." So two frightened and uncertain new mothers consented to labial and tongue clippings who now are second guessing and upset with me for even mentioning that their children had 1st degree tongue ties. I am so angry at our lack of system right now that I can't type clearly. A consultation is just that...a consult. Sorry doc if you don't do the procedure you aren't going to be able to bill the "worthwhile" ICD9 but get over it. You get a whole heck of a lot of money from us local LCs...except this one from now on.
