If you're looking for an example of breastfeeding support being offered
through social networking, The Leaky B@@b on Facebook is a great example.
That page has been very successful in recruiting a big following,
especially after Facebook took down the page due to "obscene" breastfeeding
photos.
If you're looking for an example of breastfeeding moms networking with one
another, Eats on Feets is the best example.
As for advocacy, Best for Babes has been very successful with using social
media to raise awareness. I'm the Director of Social Media for BfB.
I think the "happy place" with breastfeeding and social media is on the
advocacy and perhaps networking end of things. I don't think it's a good
format for getting support, simply because misinformation can grow teeth
pretty fast in a mom-to-mom support environment where there's no one with
any kind of training or formal knowledge on the subject. My two cents!
Best,
Amy West, CLC
