I watched the video at the Medela site and learned that users of the Calma teat
will live in beautifully clean, sunny, mod houses! I expect sometime in the
future we will see an exclusively breastfeeding mother in a dark, cluttered
hovel until use of the Calma puts her in the light. Reminds me of promotional
materials that would show a bottle-feeding mom neatly dressed, big diamond on
her ring-finger next to an unsmiling breastfeeding mom who in addition to the
naked breast had a naked ring-finger, too.
My pre-IBCLC life included a career in advertising and public relations. I
teach my children to ask these questions when they see ads, political speeches,
marketing materials, etc:
What are the ads intensifying?
What are the ads downplaying (omitting, confusing)?
What are they selling and who will profit from it?
There is no advertising budget for breastmilk.
Breast wishes to all,
