I did search the archives for any info, but really didn't get an answer to my question. Apparently, the latest research shows EBM loses up to 60% of it's SIgA in 48 hours when stored in polyethylene bags (bottle liners). I am an LC trying to provide the best breastmilk storage options for the pumping employees at the hospital at which I work and the patients who pump for their newborns. I believe I will provide "Snappies" for the pumping patients, but it would not be cost effective to provide glass or plastic storage for all the pumping employees (although they can bring their own). However, I would like to provide the safest, most cost effective option for those instances in which our working moms need breastmilk storage. My question is, are the polyethylene bags with the nylon (like Medela, Ameda, Lansinoh, etc.) OK? They claim the nylon prevents the fat in the milk from sticking to the sides (the fat containing the SIgA), therefore they are better than the bottle company liners made with polyethylene and claiming to be "ideal for breast milk storage". I can't find any information comparing the two. Any thoughts?
