Our local art gallery is in a bit of trouble - they told a woman who was breastfeeding her child that she must leave the gallery. Citied that old "no food and drink" rule. She and her husband protested and the rule was confirmed by a higher-up.

You can read about it in our local newspaper here: http://tinyurl.com/2an5kay

Turns out the husband isn't to be trifled with. He's demanding an apology and a change in policy in a lovely letter. He cites a UN convention, the Canadian Charter of Rights, Infact Canada. He mentions a few other incidents including one at the National Gallery of London where an apology was given after a similar incident. He even contacted a number of art galleries he and his wife have recently visited - The National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, MoMA, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.. and found none with a similar policy against breastfeeding in the galleries.

Oh, and whoops? He's a doctor.
