I think that nipple vasospasm/Reynaud's can be triggered and exacerbated
by a baby sucking incorrectly and using excessive pressures on the
nipple. The wool nursing pads do seem to help for true Reynaud's, I've
had many mothers report that they help protect them from cold-induced
symptoms. Encourage mom that she can buy 2-3 pairs and wash them by hand
when they get damp, they dry pretty quickly if they are gently squeezed
out and rolled in a towel to remove moisture before hanging.

As for this particular situation, sore nipples after a month of
breastfeeding points to some anatomical or structural problem that's not
being addressed (short mandible, tongue-tie, torticollis, etc). Have you
seen this dyad in person? Could it be time to reassess them?
