Am puzzled by a baby boy, age almost 4.5 mos, who continues to chop at
breast despite frenotomy done at 2 or 3 wks of age, CST, expert pediatric chiro
tx, fixing (perhaps not 100%) of oversupply issues and OMER, and work on
suck, tongue exercises, facial massage, and a re-clippping of lingual
frenulum done Tues, 3 days ago. Breastfeeding over the course of time has
become less painful for mom but is not pain free. (Labial frenum clipped
originally also).
Is a calm, happy baby except when it comes to feeding and then he often is
frantic at breast, dives to latch and is intermittently fussy during feed.
Wt WNL, developmental milestones WNL. Have suggested mom increase
magnesium she already takes, her diet has been modified. Have suggested OT/SLP
eval previously and yesterday when we spoke. Also, teething may have some
impact; remedies being taken.
Anyone worked with older infant where clamping/chomping persists despite
similar interventions? Suggestions? Hopeful that changes can still occur
following recent frenotomy and mom is seeing chiro again today for CST and
tx. Thank you. (permission to post by mom)
