There is still debate on whether or not ductal thrush exists. 

In the JHL there is a full text article (I am not gonna paste the whole thing, but if you are not a member of ILCA, I would be happy to email it off list) written by Jane Heinig and Jimi Francis on "Mammary Candidosis in Lactating Women." Basically their article says that ductal yeast is still not properly studied and therefore its existence is questionable.

I believe the question of ductal yeast is because milk culture from women experiancing deep breast pain usually shows a staph or other bacterial progression as opposed to yeast.

I wish there were more studies :(
