I think it is important to distinguish between colic and food sensitivities. It seems wise to eliminate foods to see if the baby is reacting to anything in the mother's diet, and it can take a while for things to settle down. In my practice the longest it took to figure out dairy was a problem was eight days of dairy elimination, when all of a sudden the bloody green stools turned to a nice country dijon mustard.

If the dad really feels the baby has colic, crying which is not altered by any comfort measures, dietary changes, breastfeeding adjustments etc, probiotics can be very useful. See if the dad has read the study using probiotics with colicky babies. I don't have time to grab the link for you, but if you google probiotics, colic and newborns you will pop up the study which appeared in the Journal Pediatrics a few years ago. I have had enormous success with moms who have tried this approach and the drops used in the study can be ordered online from Bio Gaia.

I believe that some sparkling waters are ionized and perhaps this could be affecting the breast milk, and some contain minerals etc etc so if she suspects the water is a problem, just stop drinking it, but if it were the whole problem you wouldn't still be posting!!!! So good luck with your search.
