Thank you for the many perspectives and experiences I've received since my
post earlier this week! Please keep on sharing! There were a couple of
things I thought were interesting.

Maybe it's an American preoccupation but I know I wondered all the time
about my babies weight and I see this in many of the moms we work with.

We use an electronic scale that a two year old could use...and we do teach *all
staff* how to use and clean them. The PCs put the information in the
clients file under notes. They do not enter them into the graph or attempt
to explain it to the clients. If there are any variations in growth, high
or low, the information is given to the on-call IBCLC.

We are compiling a chart with the math all done on it for *all staff* to use
as a reference (no math required on the spot). We will work at developing
our own local policies and share those with our state office. The best part
of the PC program is the flexibility to adapt to a given community of
mothers and the culture of many different types of WIC agencies. The more
policies the USDA, Federal/Regional WIC or the state feel they 'must' create
the more flexibility the program loses and in the end the less we are able
to be responsive to the women in our communities.

Thank you---especially the stories and experiences...and the empathy!
