Unfortunately, mom's sign a blanket permission when they come into hospital
and nurse is probably following dr's orders (They all have standard orders,
like if "glucose is below x, give one oz formula and repeat test in x
minutes") Some parents, who have been educated before admission, will
specify on permission slip items that they want observed (no separation, no
formula, no eye care, no vit K etc.). But that doesn't stop staff from
scaring the daylights out of them to do what staff wants done or The Doctor
has ordered on standard protocol :-(
However, nurse can NOT give formula ( or whatever procedure) and document
that parent refused. Pat in SNJ
