OMG, I am going to call up Medela and give them an earful.  What the Medela rep said is total BS.  Sorry, but I really hate it when companies LIE.  I have opened up the old style pumpin styles and even some of the newer pump in styles to find them completely covered with black mold.  Had I known that Medela would lie about this, I would have taken photos of it.  I've seen MANY pumps with mold on the inside.

And no, turning on the motor is not the best way to get rid of water.  Taking the tubes and holding them in the middle and whipping them around in a circle (you have to switch to get the other side of the tube) works much better.
