Dear Amy
I think the only way to truly do cue -based feeding in the NICU is to have
the baby with the mother practicing kangaroo care. i use a Flip video
camera and have gotten some great shots of babies self latching. The rooms
where our moms stay are 3 long hallways from the SCN, By the time the nurses
first notices cues, calls the Mom and the Mom gets there it is sometimes
too late. The baby asked many minutes ago. Nils Bergman has some great info
on mother baby separation. Good Luck-at least it's a start-We are still
feeding on the clock and pushing bottles to get the baby home. They blame
the insurance companies!
