My personal theory of decreased milk supply during illness.
Victim of oversupply back in the day when there were 2 books to read on BF
(WABF and Nursing Your Baby). Frequent plugged ducts, breast infections and
mastitis(usually aefebrile). I always thought it was breast telling brain,
whoops there is something wrong down here, slow down production. Then baby
was able to nurse more frequently and help keep breast empty etc. Supply
always came right back up in one-two days. I don't know how scientific this
is, just my personal observations. I have heard similar things from other
women and have told moms not to panic if supply seems to drop and baby
nurses more frequently. It is sort of a body's self protection mode, IMHO.
