Hello, all. When working with post-frenotomy breastfeeding dyads (clipped at age > 12 weeks), how do we sort out who needs speech therapy? Based on the age alone, should they all receive some ST? How long is ST expected to be needed? How long is heavy drooling expected to continue following a frenotomy? Should the baby act uncomfortable for any length of time from the procedure due to the presence of dissolvable sutures? Is it common for most every feeding (breast or bottle) to temporarily become a struggle due to irritablility? And, finally, what are your best examples of how to keep an exhausted mom encouraged? I seem to be learning that my literature has left me unprepared for these "the next step" type of situations. I anxiously await your input! Thank you, Shannon, RN, IBCLC
