One of the first memories I have being with my newborn preemie is during our stay at the hospital. I fell asleep with my son and the nurse came in and screamed, "Where's the baby, where's the baby?" I was so startled and thought I had done something terribly wrong. It seemed natural to me to let me son sleep with me and to this day he continues to do so without incident. I am also a light sleeper and am always aware of wht's going on. Nevertheless, I always advise parents to be safe and to do what they feel is best in their situation. As mentioned before there are instances where co-sleeping should be avoided such as use of drugs, alcohol, etc.
