Does anyone know if there are legal ramifications for referring to oneself as an IBCLC when you are not one? I know anyone can call themself a Lactation Consultant, but I was just interested in the IBLCE stance on this. I personally do not know anyone who does this, but since we are not licensed no one really monitors credentials.
I know that there are many of us who feel that medicalizing lactation consultant isn't a good thing, but I worry that because anyone can use the term LC there may be a lot of false information being passed onto to families.
