Capillary bleeding from the nipples is painless. Bleeding with pain is 
more likely to be from nipple damage. Mom certainly may bleed more 
easily when injured, or clot more slowly. I'd recommend she get help 
with the basics first - positioning and latch, assessment of the baby, etc.
