The  US government is establishing a task force to address four pillars related to childhood obesity. These include:  

1. Ensuring access to healthy, affordable foods
2. Increasing physical activity in schools and communities
3. Providing healthier food in schools 
4. Empowering parents with information and tools to make good choices for themselves and their families

Breastfeeding, which we know to be one of the most powerful influences on the protection against childhood obesity, has NOT been mentioned and is not addressed!

Comments are being accepted until March 26. Please go to http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/granule/FR-2010-03-16/2010-5719 to read a summary of the task force’s job and then to http://www.regulations.gov to submit a comment regarding the need for attention to breastfeeding protection, promotion, and support.
