Does the baby have teeth coming in? That was my first thought. Get
rid of the pacifier, so all sucking needs come from mom. Try different
positions, especially with baby sitting up (ever try eating lying
down?) At 6 months, it can work well for some moms depending upon size
of breast to have baby sitting on her lap, facing her, baby's mouth at
breast level, nursing that way. The more upright, the less likely to
gag/spit up. What does the baby do when he gags, spits up? Has baby
started solids recently? Which ones? Does baby have a red/sore throat?
Swollen glands? A cold? All of those could cause the gagging/spitting
up. I guess I have more questions than answers.
