Cooling hot food in the fridge before putting it in the freezer is to
protect the other food in the freezer from a rise in temperature caused by
putting hot food directly into the freezer. I can see no problem with putting
EBM directly into the freezer. It will simply cool faster. The
injunction to cool EBM before freezing applies when adding fresh EBM to a container
of frozen EBM. Best to cool the fresh EBM first so it doesn't partially
defrost the already frozen milk.
I hope that's clearer

Nina,
MUCH clearer thanks. Yes we knew about the chilling before adding to other
cool/frozen milk, but not the rationale for EBM being chilled pre-freezing.
Makes sense there is no need. Body temp milk would be much "chiller" than
hot, recently cooked food for sure.
Thanks!
Peace,
