I posted about this a few weeks ago. Breastfed fine first 6 days but was in NICU for pneumonia. Admitted to NICU right away. Given bottle at 6 days for ineffective feeding and just has not been able to get him to breastfeed consistently since. He will occasionally and everything works for a feeding or two. He now gags at the breast every time she offers it. He is congested every morning. He has had craniosacral therapy, and she is off wheat and dairy, and the congestion has developed since she went off the wheat. She has replaced wheat with buckwheat so I recommended maybe she go off that as well. This baby looked pretty normal when I saw him, good suck, took the bottle without any problems, but really just refused to go on the breast. I didn't see symptoms that I though were reflux, but the gagging and congestion are making me wonder. Does this ring any bells for anyone?
This mom breastfed her other three kids until they were two and really wants this baby to breastfeed.
