''Milk won't freeze'' probably means ''milk will not turn firm upon decreasing temperature''. Ofcourse, if put in an environment of a certain temperature (minus 18centigrade or colder) the milk will reach that temperature as well, meaning there will be no bacterial growth no matter how the substance looks. Thus, the milk will be safe to use if the temp checks.

Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC in PP, LC lecturer in southern Netherlands, going nomail for some days while attending the ABM conference in Poland.

Hi Minda

The breastmilk that won't freeze  is in our very nice state-of-the-art commercial freezer in out NICN unit. If you do an advanced search on Lactnet using freeze as your key word you willl find 16 posts about this subject. It obviously has happened to a number of other interested persons. However, there are no explanations. Would you concur that we can use the milk as usual?

Warmly,

Holly McSpadden, IBCLC
