Hi Amy,

Do you have access to the Breastfeeding Atlas (Third Edition), Barbara
Wilson-Clay and Kay Hoover?  It is discussed in there on pae 85.  If you
don't, I could try to scan in the pages and email them to you if that would
help.

It sounds as though the mamary tissue you describe extends into the armpit,
in which case it is referred to as the tail of Spence (Lawrence 2005).
Normally this area becomes engorged, but does not necessarily leak milk, but
it is not unknown for auxilliary breast tissue to do so.  Cold compresses
and ibuprofen are considered effective according to the Breastfeeding Atlas,
and the engorgement should settled down within a few days.  The lady may
find the elastic or band of her bra aggravates the tissue for a few days too
as it puts pressure on the area.
