Because it's the right thing to do! Exclusive breast feeding, and continuing to provide EBM to babies after mom's return to work, continues to promote baby's and mother's health, mom's miss less time from work because baby has fewer illnesses, generally speaking, and breast feeding and continuing to provide EBM helps to maintain the connection between mom and baby, while mom is away at work. Overall, breast feeding promotes the health and well being of the dyad, building healthier and stronger individuals, and our nation. We, as Lactation Consultants, know and understand this, but need to educate those we assist, and those we serve, as we support breast feeding.

By supporting breast feeding, we will lessen the strain on the health care system, by promoting health and well being, strengthening family bonds, and promoting good health and longevity. The U.S. Government recognizes the value of the health investment of breast feeding, and the U.S. Military is being provided breast feeding education and support, which they so richly deserve. The military deserve our very best support and assistance with this exceptional investment in the value of those who protect our freedoms and way of life.
