Ann,
I think she needs to attend to her Vitamin D levels more aggressively as her
bones will have a hard time taking up the calcium in the absence of
sufficent Vitamin D. A Vitamin D level of 15 is very low. Most doctors
want it above 50. (Normal low side being about 30) I am surprised she
isn't taking a much higher dose then 2000 I.U/day. When mine was 33 my
doctor had me taking 5000 I.U./day and it still took a while to come up.
With it being summer time she should also be getting some sun exposure
without sun screen at least 30 minutes weekly. It also makes me wonder
what her levels of Vitamin D is in her breastmilk and wether her toddlers
Vitamin D level is wnl's.
