Hi All,
I have just accepted a job as a CLC (sitting for IBCLC next summer) in a hospital setting. The nurse manager has called a meeting (two weeks from now) for all of the LCs and assistant L&D nurse managers. The topic of discussion: "We are getting complaints from patients that the lactation consultants are making breastfeeding mothers feel guilty for sending the babies to the nursery at night to get formula."
Well, my feeling is that the LCs are being "scapegoated" for something mothers probably know isn't a good practice. I have downloaded Jack Newman's article about "Breastfeeding and Guilt" to take to the meeting. My question, how is the best way to approach this subject with my nurse manager?
Thanks!
Marie Ivey, RN, BSN, CLC
