It was me, not Nikki, Susan :)
I do think we can compare the *effectiveness* of the *removal of
milk* (the phrase I used) of i) the pump and ii) the baby.
When we do that, though, of course we have to remember that 'removal
of milk' is only a small part of breastfeeding, and that it is in
some ways artificial to separate this aspect of it...and it's one of
the reasons why I heartily dislike the presentation of expressing as
being equal to (or heaven help us, even better than) breastfeeding.
Expressing/pumping is not as effective *or* as efficient in terms of
the breastfeeding experience for mother and baby - but if all we're
talking about is 'what quantity of milk is removed?' I don't object
to the question :)
