The final paragraph of a 1985 survey of Physicians says:
There are two negative strains in the descriptions [of LLL],
however. Slightly more than one quarter of the physicians, 29%,
characterize La Leche League as "overzealous/extremists" and 6 % say that
the League induces "guilt." These criticisms are most prevalent among the
Pediatricians and Family Practitioners and less common among Ob/Gyn's. Also
those under 45 [years old] more often voice these criticisms than those over
45. Nevertheless, on balance, the strong majority of physicians provide
positive or neutral descriptions of La Leche League.
Attitudes Towards La Leche League International: A Research Study Among
Physicians. Conducted for Professional Services Division, Proctor & Gamble
and La Leche League International, by HMB?Creamer Research and Glick & Lrwin
Group, Creamer Dickson Basford. November 8, 1985.
I'm having such fun digging in the old CBI files :-) Pat in SNJ
