Spoon feeding can be considered similar to cup feeding. As long as the 
baby is in control of the fluid flow (the spoon can be put to her lips 
and she sucks the milk off, rather than the spoon being used to pour 
milk into her mouth), the baby should have an easier time coordinating 
swallowing and breathing. Most studies of cup feeding have shown that 
it's safer than bottles in terms of aspiration risk.
