I actually went through the donor screening process when my oldest child was
an infant, around ten years ago.  It was mind-bogglingly extensive, and I
ended up being rejected because I used a daily infusion of nettle and other
nutritional herbs and just wasn't willing to give that up.  I was on a diet
free of dairy, gluten, eggs, nuts, citrus, berries for my allergic baby and
wanted to share my hypoallergenic milk, but I needed the nutritional
support.  I was very, very impressed with how careful they were.

When reading about breastfeeding in Haiti, I came upon mention that if a
breastfed baby gets diarrhea, the mother will possibly wean cold turkey in
the belief that her milk caused the illness.  What a double whammy that
would be.
