And then also, being careful to listen with our hearts as well as our heads
is important. Again, a pacifier is a tool - looks like Angela used it that
way, although I suppose we'd need to do a research study on "The Use of
Pacifiers as a Calming Tool and its Effect on Mother/Baby Relationships in
Mothers who had Postpartum Emotional Challenges"!
So Ingrid, as you continue to work in the field maybe that will call to you!
(I ended up looking at the relationship between difficult births and the
transition to motherhood myself.)

...who used a Nuk with her first baby and got rid of it when she went to LLL
at 6 months, has a 25 years thumbsucking 2nd baby (mom with too much milk
despite nursing 3 yr old) and a 3rd baby who never sucked his thumb or had a
pacifier. And I don't know what I did differently (except the leaps in
knowledge about latch, so I didn't have sore nipples with the second)
Leading me to realize that sometimes I don't know anything.
