I haven't read this book but I want to put in a plug for Mary Jo Kurcinka's
book, _Sleepless in America_. An excellent look at the way we are running
ourselves and our children ragged. The very last chapter talks about the
importance of sleep environment for babies and she doesn't diss co-sleeping
or bed-sharing.

Re the first year she basically says don't be doing sleep training! The
first year respond to your child's needs! And don't be giving children who
want to be in bed at 7 a "treat" by taking them to midnight showing of The
Rocky Horror Picture Show! (It doesn't say that, I made it up.....)

I loved her book _Raising you spirit child_ and was not disappointed with
this one.
