What Nestlé is saying is that it has no problems violating key provisions in the WHO Code, which prohibits companies that manufacture breastmilk substitutes from even SEEKING CONTACT WITH expectant or new mothers, and it specifically prohibits such companies from offering advice on infant nutrition.

The Code intended to protect mothers from so-called information provided by companies whose profits rise when breastfeeding falls. Nestlé doesn't care, and their usual response when it is pointed out to them, is that they interpret these parts of the Code to apply only in developing countries. This is not the case. There are no sections of the Code marked 'does not apply in industrialized countries'. It is an integrated document which is meant to apply all over the world. Besides, there is good evidence that

How does Nestlé respond to someone pointing out to them that even HAVING 'breastfeeding support' staff is a no-no? Even if the breastfeeding support is for their own employees, it is a violation, because their employees also should come under protection of the Code.

Me, I'm relieved to hear that there are no IBCLCs who have been so pressed for money that they have stooped to working for Nestlé.
